American Liver Foundation

a number of our Chapters are heavily involved in visits to their statehouses and requests for proclamations declaring May Hepatitis Awareness Month.  In addition, our intensive activity this year is a nationwide initiative for all of our Chapters.  Each is identifying a targeted list of key decision makers (state legislators, governor, mayors, federal legislators, state officials, etc.) with whom they will meet/talk to increase their awareness of hepatitis in their state and the need for more funds directed to the solutions.  We have armed the Chapters with all of the materials that they need and have encouraged them to communicate with their hepatitis coordinators, as well.  Our Chapters already have begun to train their Hepatitis Awareness Month team members, so that we'll have a corps of staff, lay volunteers, and professional volunteers to connect with the decision makers

Hepatitis C Association

We have:

  • asked the Governor of New Jersey to sign a proclamation to make May 2008 Hepatitis Awareness Month
  • partnered with another New Jersey hepatitis non profit organization and the New Jersey Road Runners Club to dedicate their 2008 Marathon Race to hepatitis.
